- Dying, as a Franciscan: Approaching Our Transitus to Eternal Life, Acc
Description:
(THIS IS THE E-VERSION OF THIS TITLE)
Spirit and Life Series, Volume 15
On June 17 - 20, 2010, the Ninth National Franciscan Forum was held at Regis University, Denver, Colorado, to discuss the ultimate pilgrimage of the human journey. With a group of distinguished presenters, the Forum allowed these presenters and the participants to delve deeply into their shared experiences of the transitus from earthly to eternal life. This book includes the presentations given at the Forum.
The preparation for the transitus to eternal life by Francis and Clare is well documented in the literature and the art of the lives of both. The Ninth National Franciscan Forum addressed the questions: Is there a particularly Franciscan manner of approaching our passage to the Lord and of helping others do the same? Are there particular elements within the Franciscan tradition – stories, symbols and rituals – on which we can all draw to help us and others whom we accompany in this ultimate pilgrimage of the human journey? The presentations at this conference by Michael Cusato, OFM, Thomas Nairn, OFM, Mary Petrosky, FMM, Daniel Sumasy, OFM, Thomas Lynch and Kathleen McCarron, OSF, addressed those questions and provides perspectives on death and dying with a specifically Franciscan interpretation.
This book is published as part of the series, Spirit and Life: Essays on Contemporary Franciscanism.
